Youth Program

The Youth Program provides activities that are designed to increase young people’s chances for overall success in life.  It offers after school tutoring and homework help plus workshops that assist children and teens to develop social and life skills. Teens also have the opportunity to engage in activities that help them prepare for work and careers. The program partners with several neighborhood public schools and operates the following projects:

Greensleeves, based at Gale Academy, and Project JAM!, based at Jordan Community School, are after-school youth projects for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The projects are multi-faceted and offer tutoring, literacy activities, life skills workshops, and structured recreational and arts activities. A social worker performs initial assessments for each participant and provides one-one-one small group counseling and therapeutic activities.

STARS is based at Gale Academy and offers 6th, 7th, and 8th graders help to improve academic performance, develop social skills, learn conflict-resolution techniques, and get ready for high school.

High School Youth Project serves primarily students from Sullivan High School.  It has two major focus areas:  academic and life skills development, and career exploration and employability skills development.  Teens participate in internships and other work experiences.

The Computer Clubhouse offers access to cutting edge computer technology on a drop-in basis for youth ages 10-18. Participants can utilize available equipment and software for music and video production, photography, homework and other projects.
