Registration for Summer 2010 Technology Enrichment Classes at the Computer Clubhouse is now open.
The Youth Program provides activities that support young people to improve their academic achievement and life skills development. The program partners with neighborhood public schools and operates the following programs:
Greensleeves, based at Gale Academy, and Project JAM!, based at Jordan Community School, are after-school programs for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. They offer tutoring, literacy activities, life skills workshops and structured recreational and arts activities.
Teen REACH is based at Chicago Math & Science Academy and helps 6th, 7th and 8th graders improve academic performance, develop social skills and prepare for high school.
The 21st Century Youth Program at Gale Academy offers 6th, 7th and 8th graders academic assistance and social skills-building workshops, as well as art and recreation activities.
Seeing Healthy, Active Rogers Park (SHARP) Kids is a multi-pronged, collaborative approach to ameliorate the pressing overweight and obesity epidemic among children in the Rogers Park community.
The Computer Clubhouse Arts and Technology Center offers mentorship and access to cutting-edge computer technology on a drop-in basis for youth ages 10-18. Our state-of-the-art technology and arts center has professional equipment and software for music and video production, photography, homework and other projects.
WIA Career and Employment Exploration is for youth ages 16 to 18. We provide paid and unpaid work experiences, drop-out prevention activities, alternative secondary school offerings, occupational skills training, leadership development, adult mentoring and counseling.
Program Highlights
- Each year, more than 350 elementary school and high school students actively participate in after school activities.
- 80 children engage in an intensive, full-day Annual Summer Camp at Gale Academy.
- More than 50 teens learn work-related skills by attending employability workshops and or securing jobs or internships.
- More than 75 students have participated in two hours of nutrition and healthy lifestyles education and exercise each week.
